The Barmera Monash Football Club Wellbeing Committee made tremendous strides in 2024 - building on its commitment to fostering a supportive and inclusive environment for all members. This year saw the addition of a youth representative to the committee which is a crucial step in ensuring the voices of young members are heard and considered in all BMfC initiatives.

Following the departure of some valued committee members, new recruits joined, bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the committee.

Player welfare was high on the committee agenda this year. A presentation around the risks of alcohol and drug use was developed with support from GOOD SPORTS (https://goodsports) and was delivered to the senior playing group as a part of their pre-season training camp - in line with the team's discussion around collective values and behaviours.

The Wellbeing Committee successfully hosted a FAMILY DAY at the trial match against the Imperials Football Club. This event attracted a large community turnout and set a welcoming tone for the season.

One of the stand-out events in the last year was the MATES ON A MISSION mental health presentation, which offered valuable insights and created an open space for conversations around mental health. The annual BUILD A BURGER night, held on the eve of the Mental Health and Wellbeing Round, also fostered discussions on wellbeing and strengthened bonds within the club. All six teams proudly wore custom purple uniforms for the round, reinforcing their commitment to mental health awareness.

Further engaging the youth, the committee organised a JUNIOR AMBROSE GOLF DAY for teens aged 13 to 18, and a fun-filled SUPERHEROES VS VILLAINS brought families together in a creative and supportive setting.

Continued media interest throughout the year amplified the committee's efforts, with articles in newspaper, radio and social media featuring the club's wellbeing initiatives.

Lastly, the annual WELLBEING SURVEY once again guided the committee's work, allowing it to respond directly to the voices of club members. This year's achievements underscore the committee's dedication to building a positive and resilient culture, setting a strong foundation for future wellbeing initiatives at Barmera Monash Football Club.
